Probably the world’s most popular game involving hitting a ball with a hand-held implement, the earliest reference to cricket was in South East England in the mid-16th century.
The sport was followed primarily in South Asia, Australasia, the United Kingdom, Southern Africa, and the West Indies, to become an international sport. A team sport played between two teams of eleven players each, cricket is a bat-and-ball game played on a roughly oval grass field, in the centre of which is a flat strip of ground 20.12 m (22 yards) long, called a pitch.
From September 12th to October 14th, in Malaga, Spain, 21 national teams will compete in 120 matches over 5 weeks of the European Cricket Championship 2022, that will be broadcast live worldwide via select broadcast partners and is expected to be seen by over 40 million viewers daily.
